A 2 year masters in design program with strong focus on industry skills and professional development. Coursework is designed to quickly create portfolio pieces, encouraging students to practice rapid ideation, prototyping, and development.
Full process product development, advanced CAD modeling with both solids and surfaces, design and project management, physical prototyping of smart devices, rapid prototyping, and design research practices.
A 4 year bachelors in industrial design from a highly acclaimed design school. RISD's curriculum follows a traditional approach, focused around full design process and physical making, exploring the ways they inform your work as a designer. Development periods were long and project scopes were large, encouraging experimentation, user testing, craftmanship and the creation of highly refined prototypes.
Traditional design process from concept to production models, CAD modeling, manufacturing techniques, design for manufacturing, designing softgoods, field and user research techniques, advanced prototyping, and advanced fabrication techniques.
RISD Scholarship Fund, John & Barbara Earle Scholarship, Athena Awards Scholarship, Rittman Family Scholarship, Cronacher Family Scholarship, George Alden Scholarship
Underwent a self directed project to develop a compact messenger bag for Rickshaw. Over the 8 week period I was tasked with design and iteration, hand making prototypes, user testing, creating manufacturing samples, assembling tech packs, and collaborating with both Rickshaws owner and their house production team to create a production models of the bag.
Collaborated on fabrication teams for projects including: workplace lobby installations, trade show booths, public art and installations for Outsidelands Music Festival and Burning Man. Required broad knowledge of assembly and fabrication techniques, consistent attention to detail, communication skills, on the fly problem solving, and ability to analyze build drawings.
Worked assisting shop techs and students in department fabrication shops. Common tasks include assisting students with shop safety and fabrication methodology, assisting with creating design solutions, machine maintenance, designing and fabricating objects for the shop tech, and manage after hours shop usage. Required proficiency of all shop tools, high standard for shop safety, and strong design intuition.
